Realism Tattoos in Pasay City
Realism is the heart of what we do at Omom Tattoo Studio. Most of the work that comes through our studio in Pasay City is realism — portraits of family, pets and animals, religious and symbolic pieces, and detailed scenes that need to read clearly even years after they’ve healed.
Aaron Olaguivel founded Omom around that focus. Over more than 15 years tattooing, his realism work has earned international recognition and the backing of leading industry brands — Fusion Tattoo Ink, Bishop Rotary, OG Produce, Tattoo Goo, and Asia Tattoo Supply — but the day-to-day stays the same: studying the reference, planning the composition, and building the depth and contrast that hold up on skin.
What makes a realism tattoo last
A realistic tattoo isn’t just a copy of a photo. Skin changes over time — lines soften, contrast settles — so a piece that looks sharp on day one can go flat in a few years if it isn’t built with that in mind.
Our approach leans on strong contrast, clean composition, and a clear focal point, so the subject stays readable from a distance and ages well. We’d rather commit to one strong subject done properly than crowd a piece with detail that blurs together later.
Colour realism vs black-and-grey
We work in both colour and black-and-grey realism, and the right choice depends on the subject and the placement.
Black-and-grey realism relies on light, shadow, and smooth gradients. It’s timeless, tends to age predictably, and suits portraits, religious imagery, and dramatic, high-contrast pieces.
Colour realism adds another layer — skin tones, the colour of an animal’s eyes, the warmth in a sunset. It can be incredibly lifelike, and we plan colour pieces carefully so the tones stay true as they heal. In your consultation we’ll talk through which direction fits your idea best.
Realism that works for cover-ups
Because realism is built on contrast and depth, it’s one of the most effective styles for covering older or unwanted tattoos. A detailed realistic subject can absorb and disguise existing ink in ways lighter styles can’t. If covering something is your goal, see our cover up tattoos page for how that process works.
About the artist — Aaron Olaguivel
Aaron is a realism tattoo artist and the founder of Omom Tattoo Studio. With over 15 years of experience and recognition on the international stage, he also teaches realism to other artists — which keeps his own process sharp and deliberate.
When you book a realism piece with the studio, you’re working with someone who builds each design from gathered references rather than copying a single image, so your tattoo is genuinely yours.
How to book
We work by appointment so every realism piece gets the planning it needs. For health and safety reasons we don’t take unannounced walk-ins, and detailed realism work usually books a few weeks out — so we’d suggest reaching out 2–3 weeks before your preferred date.
To start, message us on Facebook or Instagram, or email [email protected] with your concept, rough size, and placement. We’ll talk through references, composition, and which realism style suits the piece, then plan it from there.
